The Wombats, Weezer, and The Pixies rock New Orleans's Champion's Square

Shows with multiples sets make for a great night out, that’s why Weezer and The Pixies’, supported by The Wombats, tour was a must go to. The combination of two classic alt rock bands and a 2000’s indie pop newcomer (compared to their tour mates), while not so completely different in music style and performance, created a diverse crowd in the New Orleans venue I attended the show at. Attendees in their teens and early twenties stood shoulder to shoulder with people who could be their parent’s age, and this mix of concert-goers really showed that music knows no age.

King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard tear the roof off of Republic New Orleans

Punk rock and neo-psychedelia clash beautifully in the magical wizard-y ways of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The Australian seven piece band is an absolute riot, and their shows are as well. At their sold out show at the Republic New Orleans, moshing was not only allowed but very encouraged. Their set was filled with shreddy guitar riffs solos and high caliber drum beats, not a person in the venue wasn’t banging their head to the music...
